Webtoon | Cheese in The Trap

Name: Jung
Type: Manipulative/Stalker
Level: 4
Meter: Moderate
Rating: 1

*Okay so I absolutely LOVE this webtoon! I really admire Sul (main character). She is one of the few smart, independent and hard working protagonists! That aside, it took me a while to decide if the guy in here was a yandere because a lot of times I was confused between if the guy really liked her or if he was just using her for his personal schemes. If you keep reading, he does become a yandere character for her (^_^). It's ongoing and you can read it in English here.*

  1. omg I agree with you! This webtoon is so fun to read :D and Sul is one of my favorite heroine! It's cool because we don't know what the guy is thinking xd. I don't know if he's a real yandere... but it looks like he's hiding a dark side :o. (sorry if bad English, I'm actually French XD)

    1. Right! Yeah it's hard to tell what the guy is thinking. But I think he is a yandere for many different reasons that I won't go into detail for now. I could be wrong though. Also it's okay! Your english is very good. (^_^).

  2. I would just like to confirm that Jung is indeed yandere. Through the OddSquad translations I have read all the way up to Season 3 Episode 50 and at this point Jung has had several moments I think would more than pass as being labeled yandere moments. I won't go into detail to avoid spoilers, but I would just like to add that Jung is not the typical yandere usually seen in manga that are clear 'maniacs' in the way they go crazy for their lover but instead I would argue that he is a much more realistic portrayal of what a yandere lover would be like in real life. Through the series we see that clearly there is much more going on behind his perfect face then meets the eye - issues that are clearly hidden - but he is smart and capable and thus is able to hide his 'craziness' from practically everyone (though as the series goes on of course he slowly slips up a little and his clear overprotectiveness and manipulative side is more visibly clear). I personally am in love with him and cannot wait to get to see even more sides of him!! If you want to go ahead and skip to a few of his major yandere moments I would recommend season 2 chapter 65-66 where - in my opinion - he goes most full on yandere so far in the story. That should confirm that he is for sure! Anyway - I hope you keep reading because clearly I absolutely adore this series and believe it is a fantastic recommendation! :D

    1. Thank you so much, I really appreciate you conforming this! I absolutely agree with you on the fact that Jung is a yandere, and the moment I was referring to if you keep reading on my post was that moment at season 2 ch65-66! That moment was what sold him as yandere to me! But to tell you the truth I always wavered at the fact if he was a true yandere or not because he is different than the typical yandere. But, the way you described him as being a more of a realistic type yandere explains it perfectly! After I read your post I am no longer unsure about the fact that he is a yandere. You've conformed to me that he is! Also, I am currently reading it and I am up to date with the English translations! I am in love with him too as I am in love with a lot of yanderes and thanks to you now when I read it I won't have to debate in my head whether if he is yandere or not and just enjoy his moments! ^^

  3. i think he is obsessed by Sul :)) but i wonder...like those messages Jung sent from In Ha's phone to Young Geon (i dont really remember tho) about Sul might like Young Geon... he is scary when he being with outsiders or (Sul's enemies) :O sorry my English is not really good

    1. Yeah I agree with you that he is obsessed with her. Also the moment you are referring to always makes me wonder why he did that. But at that time they weren't dating. I think he is like that to everyone he hates. At one point he hated Sul so that is why he did that to her. Now that he is dating her he hates everyone but her lol XD.

Your English is fine don't apologize! :D

    2. I always check your blog three times a week for new yandere guys >w< i'm trying my best to learn it so thank you :D
I don't know since when his hatefulness turned into love, what does he love about her and what will Sul do if he shows his trueself in front of her? There are several scences she is convinced to herself that he is a good guy!! OMG although he's handsome but i think i can't love him like Sul does :))

    3. Thanks, I'm happy you visit my blog and you're welcome! ^^
Hmmm I think his hatefulness turned into love when he started to see the similarities between them. Then he became interested in her and began to act nice to her in order to get closer. From there on they both began to date. After dating he started to like her and deemed her as the only person who would be qualified to be in his little world with.
Sul has had many instances where she had suspected him and then a recent incident she found out about him sending those messages to Young Geon. I think Sul is starting to realize again that he is scary from like the first time they met. Sul has become dependent on Jung without her realizing it so it is hard for her to let go of him that is why she convinces herself that he is a good guy in her head.
Yeah lol I know what you mean. :D

  4. Urgh he is a bastard!!! I don't know why he is doing these kind of thing to Sul (like leads them into a fight with Sul and then help her)!!! I mean, what the hell is he thinking??? Maybe he does love her but i think he looks like psycho :D

    1. I agree with you on the fact that he is psycho. I can't understand what he is thinking most of the time too. I've labelled him as a yandere for the very reason on how manipulative he is. I think he "loves" her in his own psychotic way and does all these things to her to make her dependent on him. I think he realizes that Sul relies on him that is why he does those things. (For example every time he goes to leave Sul grabs onto his hands and he always wonders why she does this every time). I think he wants her to just depend on him and stay in his little world with him. That is why he is a yandere to me. But, personally he is not my favorite. I love yanderes for their loving side not manipulative. Which is why manipulative yanderes are my least favorite and clingy types being my favorite.

    2. Sometimes i'm afraid that he will lock her up and rape her or something, in the-don't-remember-which-chapter he stared at her neck, her lips @@ He kinda like can read everyone's mind. I don't remember which chapter (again) :D but he though that Sul did not understand him, that make me feel anxious for her.

    3. LOL call me crazy but I'd rather him show more emotion. He barely looses his cool so I don't know what he is thinking half the time and neither does Sul. Jung is definetly not the type to lock someone up. He wouldn't be that hasty and careless. He is the kind of yandere that traps the love interest without her realizing she is even being trapped. Sul is already in a trap since she's dependent on him and wants to believe in him. For him to lock her up he'd have to really be pushed to the extreme.

    4. Sul are already in Jung's trap right :D just my thinking but it may end up Sul find out Jung's deep dark side, she will makes her mind to love him or to deny him and then because she is so in love with him that she can get through and bam, we will have a new wed couple.

    5. Yeah :D. I agree with you that might happen and depending on how much she loves Jung she will make her desision to either stay with him, change him, or leave him.

  5. Who want Sul x Jung huh? I want Sul x In Ho but sadly he doesn't have a real job. He really takes good care of Sul. Like Mai said, he may obsessed by her somehow. Creepy guy ~~~

    1. I want Sul x In Ho too believe it or not. But the side of me that likes yanderes can't help but root for Jung yandere moments. I am so conflicted (^_^'). He does care for Sul and is more honest then Jung which is why I like him too. :D But, yanderes are just too strong! XD

  6. Once again, thank you for such a wonderful review! This blog has me so fulfilled in an anime community which may at times lack wonderful yandere male characters. <3 On that note, I have another manhwa recommendation you will definitely enjoy! The manhwa is titled Cherry Boy That Girl and is a very comedic story with a yandere male love interest! To avoid any spoilers I'll just say his name is Darin Kim and I'd label him as a more realistic portrayal of a yandere character (or at least thus far in the manhwa). The story and characters themselves are absolutely fantastic and having Darin as a yandere character makes it all the more worth reading! xx pao

  7. Hi. I noticed there is a drama of the same name. Would you say that the guy is also a yandere in the drama? I know sometimes they may lighten certain subjects in the drama interpretation. I was wondering if it's true to form.

    1. I haven't watched the drama so I can't say :(. I'd suspect the yandereness wouldn't show in the drama but I could be wrong.

  8. His yandere side shows more in the drama, especially the last episodes. :) He definitely isn't the typical type of yandere. He'd rather dirty other people's hands than his own. ;;; Which is scarier than an "ordinary yandere" imo.

    I like how he grows as a character in the drama (even if the ending is kind of cheesy lol bad pun) but I feel the drama should only be watched or better appreciated if you read the webtoon first. .-. I ship him so much with Sul uggggggh I definitely recommend the drama since it has its fluffy moments. ;v;

  9. I would label Jung as possessive as well, considering that he doesn't like her hanging out with other boys and for a couple of other things that he's said.
The ch 65-66 other people mentioned seems more yanderish I guess because it's one of the few times he gets his own hands dirty rather than manipulating others to the end he wants. To me there were plenty of other indications though, both before and after.
For example, what he says at the beginning of ch 99 caught my attention, even though it seemed like a small thing.
